Your children are your responsibility

Police from the Inner West Child Protection and Investigation Unit are reminding the public to be mindful of their responsibility when supervising their children particularly under the age of 12.

In 2016-2017, there has been more than 10 incidents reported to police in Inner West Brisbane which has resulted in six people being charged under the provisions of the Queensland Criminal Code Section 364A: Leaving a child under 12 years unattended without reasonable excuse.

If a child is left unattended, particularly in a motor vehicle, they may face unacceptable risks including heat or cold, safety and accessibility concerns.

If you have any concerns regarding a young child being left alone or unattended, please report the matter to police, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or contact the immediate venue management or security.
